For the 9^th consecutive year, WHITE WAVE will produce and present our annual DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL: a four day marathon showcase of cutting-edge contemporary dance featuring both emerging and eminent dancemakers. The 2009 DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL (September 24-27) held at WHITE WAVE’s John Ryan Theater and in Brooklyn Bridge Park, will feature over 80 companies with 400 performing artists. Apart from WHITE WAVE’s Opening Night GALA fundraiser taking place on September 24^th, all performances in our 3-day dance extravaganza will be presented free of charge to the public.

2009 DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL Festival Schedule:

– Thursday, September 24 at 7pm (GALA Benefit)
– Friday, September 25 from 7pm – 10pm
– Saturday, September 26 from 2pm – 4pm, 5pm – 7pm, and 8pm – 10pm.
– Sunday, September 27 from1pm – 3pm*, and 4pm – 7pm.

*held outdoors in Brooklyn Bridge Park (on the waterfront under the Manhattan Bridge). In case of rain, this performance will be held at WHITE WAVE’s John Ryan Theater, 25 Jay Street, Dumbo Brooklyn..

The 2009 DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL will present an extraordinarily diverse group of contemporary dance works, both in style and spirit. Up to 7 companies are presented in every hour of programming, hailing from the NYC metropolitan area, across the United States, and beyond. The grand scale of the festival, the diverse artist participation, and vast interdisciplinary variety distinguishes this event from its peers.

The 2009 DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL will kick off with WHITE WAVE’s Opening Night GALA Celebration on Thursday, September 24^th at 7:00 PM. The evening will be M.C.’d by a guest celebrity (TBA), and feature stunning contemporary dance, including Becca Alaly and Dancers, johannes wieland, Lauri Stalling/gloATL(GA), Lucie Baker, Pascal Rekoert/Flexicurve, Patricia Noworol Dance Company, Robin Conrad(CA), and WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company. A black tie optional champagne reception will be followed by a buffet dinner/dance party with delicious Korean cuisine and live music by the ever-popular Bossa Nova Beatniks. Tickets are $100 per person, including chances to win gourmet wine baskets, “dinner-for-two” at local DUMBO eateries, and much more in our fabulous raffle! All guests at WHITE WAVE’s GALA will receive complimentary LA MER and Jo Malone Boutique gifts from BERGDORF GOODMAN, including a $25 gift card and $185 exclusive facial treatment (est. value $250).

All funds raised at WHITE WAVE’s GALA Benefit go directly towards offsetting our production costs and to the development of our future programming. All other performances are FREE, although donations are encouraged. Performance times are noted below. All Festival performances are first-come first-served; there are no reservations or advance tickets.  Performances are held at WHITE WAVE’s John Ryan Theater located at 25 Jay Street (accessible from the F train at York Street Station) in DUMBO, Brooklyn, unless otherwise noted.
